I've been with InfoSpace, now Blucora, since April of 2006, and have grown personally and professionally with the ebbs and tides of change through the years here. The supportive attention to work/life balance has allowed me to complete my B.A. degree in accounting and I continually develop in my role as the Senior Payroll Accountant. I love having the responsibility of ensuring our employees are paid accurately and timely! I never thought that when I started using TaxACT in 2003 to do my personal taxes that, two years later, I would be working for the very company that produced the tax filing products. Since starting with TaxACT, I have been given many opportunities to expand my technical knowledge and advance my career thanks to the exciting and ever changing workload. I really enjoy the friendly and casual work environment. It is nice to know that I can always pick up the phone and ask questions of my colleagues' or draw on their experiences. I look forward to continuing to learn and grow with the company in the years to come.
Web Developer InfoSpace
I started working at InfoSpace, Inc. in March 2010 as a contractor to help the marketing team with their websites. I transitioned to full-time employment three months later to the development team. I was so excited when they offered me the full-time position because being a full-time employee meant that I would be working with great people at the company for a while.
Once I got hired on full-time, I lead the implementation of best practices for multiple projects while working for 3+ teams. My tasks also included training and managing three contract web developers and two off-shore developers, working within an agile team of UX designers, marketers, product managers, business and software engineers to implement/migrate 60+ major consumer facing search sites.
I like working at InfoSpace mainly because of the awesome people and friends that I have gotten to know and the ability to grow your skills here and be heard. It makes my work fun and enjoyable.
